Who’s more fickle – customer or suppliers?

In the web world, you often hear that your competitors are only a mouse-click away. In other words, your customers can easily find comparable products or services. Their switching costs are low. They’re fickle.

If you’re a distributor, the same is true of your suppliers. Your suppliers will look for the best distributor – and “best” is typically defined by some combination of price, service, and accuracy. We all know that customer loyalty is important. But supplier loyalty is equally important.

That’s why we’ve beefed up our supplier collaboration solutions in the Lawson M3 product line. We’ve made it much easier to share your forecasts with your suppliers. Your suppliers can enter a portal, quickly grasp your requirements, and organize the replenishment process effectively. We’ve helped to make vendor managed inventory a two-way street. On the sell side, you can manage inventory more easily at customer locations. On the buy side, it’s now much easier for your suppliers to manage their inventory at your sites.

Distribution is a tough business. If you’d like to learn how we can make your distribution business stronger, just give us a call.

As its name implies, The Lawson Opinionizer offers opinions. We believe we've got our facts straight but we don't guarantee it. A new Opinionizer appears every Monday. If you have an opinion, send an e-mail to Opinionizer@lawson.com
